AVAR publishes two newsletters, Directions, which is sent four times per year to AVAR contributors and veterinary members, and Alternatives in Veterinary Medical Education, which is distributed three times per year to veterinary students and veterinary faculty throughout the United States and Canada.

AVAR also distributes a variety of brochures, papers, and positions statements on animal rights issues, as well as a video on early-age sterilization.
